5. Mohammed Salah (Liverpool)
'The Egyptian God' beat Kevin de Bruyne in the PFA player of the year award 2021/2022, to take the fifth position on my list. The dangerous winger has been trouble for the Premier League defenses, which are known to be the best. Salah has proven to be a tight spot finisher with his curving skills and accuracy, one to admire.
4. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
Haaland has maintained his high profile of goals scored, despite having an injury trauma in the 2021/2022 season. The brutal striker made a move to Premier League giants Manchester City after a long period of courting from several clubs. His speed, athleticism, and finishing are ones to be reckoned with.
3. Kylian Mbappe (PSG)
Kylian has been termed the most humorous goal-scoring striker against any defense side. The youngster has been in the limelight for some time, with heavy debates around who is better between him and Erling Haaland. I place him above Haaland because, at 22 years, the bright star has already won more trophies at the club and international levels.
2. Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)
The Polish star has gone out of his way to set the record straight in recent years. He has scored 328 goals in 357 games across all competitions for Bayern Munich, including 41 Bundesliga strikes in just 29 games last season. The skillful and aggressive player has been a goal machine and is currently in Barcelona after asking out of the German giants, Bayern Munich.
1. Leonel Messi (PSG)
Messi is currently the leading sportsman with the player bagging 8 Ballon d'Or, the highest so far. The Argentinian also lifted his second international trophy for his home country in the Copa America competitions. Messi has not yet set his best foot in PSG, but there is no doubt that he will go down in history as one of the best football athletes.
